We're cruising into summer here at Potter's House Thrift, and the afternoon temperature isn't the only thing that's picking up. It's been a little over a year since we opened, and business is as booming as ever. Thank you all! If you've been coming in over the past year, you've noticed how much this place has changed in that short time. We've doubled in space, tripled in product flow, and you all have just kept the donations coming! Thank you so much for your generosity- we would not be here without your donations. Literally.
Some neat things have been happening around here lately. Our superhuman construction crew, "Doug and the Guys," has been working hard next door and recently completed the shiny new Potter's House Offices, so we now share the building with our beneficiary!
Also, former PHT employee/engineer Andrew Brewer recently started Potter's House Academy, a unique tutoring ministry of New Heights Church. Potter's House Academy offers quality instruction in academics, music, art, ACT prep, and more. Tutors receive a 50% cut, and the rest goes to Potter's House so that they can provide free lessons to kids that couldn't afford it otherwise. It's a beautiful reminder of the church in Acts 4:34: "There were no needy persons among them. For time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need." Instead of selling lands or houses, tutors at Potter's House Academy use their knowledge and skills to provide income to lay at the apostles' feet.
